1 == Creating a File Attributes Template ==

3 [[Project Administrators>>doc:Main.user_guide.Managing User Accounts.User Roles.WebHome]] can create and configure File Attribute templates for their projects that will be available to all Project Members to attach to their files during or after upload.

5 To configure an Attributes template for your project, follow the steps below:

7 1. Navigate to your [[Project Landing Page>>doc:Main.user_guide.Accessing the VRE.Finding Projects in the VRE.WebHome]] and click on the [[Settings>>doc:Main.user_guide.Managing Projects.Project Settings.WebHome]] icon in the Left Sidebar
8 1. Select the **File Attributes** tab
9 1. Click **Create New Attribute Template**
10 1. Enter a name for your Template and click **Next Step**
11 1. Click **Add Attribute**
12 1. Enter an //Attribute Name// – note that only letters and numbers are permitted.
13 1. Select a //Type// from the dropdown list, current options include:
14 11. **Multiple Choice** attributes can have a maximum of 10 choices
15 11. **Text **attributes will have a maximum of 100 characters
16 1. Toggle **Optiona**l off if you want the field to be required for the user to fill out any time the attributes are added. __Once a File Attributes template has been created, any additional attributes added to the template must be Optional.__
17 1. Click **OK **to save the Attribute. Repeat steps 6-9 until all of the required Attributes have been added to the file.
18 1. Click **Create **to save your File Attributes template.

20 Once a File Attributes template has been created, all Project Members will be able to view the template and attach the Attributes to files they have uploaded into the Green Room. For additional information on adding attributes to a file, please see [[File Properties>>doc:Main.user_guide.Managing Data.File Properties.WebHome]].

24 Project Administrators may also import existing Attribute templates as a JSON file. To import a template, navigate to// Settings //>// File Attributes Template //and click **Import Attribute Template**.  Once the file has been uploaded and saved with a name, it will be available to all Project Members.

28 Once an Attribute template has been created a Project Administrator will be able to make additional changes to the template.

32 1. **Rename** button [[image:File Manifests_html_c55b1d97cf9f44b1.png||height="19" width="19"]] . When an Attribute template has been renamed, all Files with the template attached will show the new template name. 
33 1. **Delete **button [[image:File Manifests_html_20e943b06fb9f51f.png||height="16" width="16"]] . A Project Administrator may delete the Attribute template from the Project if it has not yet been attached to a file.
34 1. **Export** button [[image:File Manifests_html_13edc0dcdd555a04.png||height="15" width="15"]] . Project Administrators can download a copy of the Attribute template in a JSON file format.
35 1. **+ Add Attribute** button.  Additional __optional__ attributes may be added to existing templates.
