publicadmin 1.1 1 === About REDCap Integration ===

REDCap is a web application deployed within the Charité Health Data Platform (HDP) for Charité researchers to collect and manage structured, form-based data for their research studies. Researchers may wish to access these data within the VRE in order to integrate them with other modalities and to conduct [[data analyses>>doc:Main.user_guide.Analyzing Data.WebHome]].

Making your Charité HDP REDCap data accessible within your VRE project takes a few setup steps by the Charité HDP and VRE administrative teams:

1. The Charité HDP administration group sets up an automated data extraction pipeline to retrieve your project-specific REDCap data and store it in a prepared format in the HDP Hadoop-based data infrastructure.
1. The VRE REDCap data pipeline retrieves the prepared REDCap data from the HDP and stores it in the VRE project-specific data warehouse.
1. VRE Project Members can then view and query the REDCap data directly from the VRE project data warehouse using the [[Apache Superset>>doc:Main.user_guide.Analyzing Data.Superset.WebHome]] data exploration application from within their [[project workbench>>doc:Main.user_guide.Analyzing Data.WebHome]].
